A Crime Against Peace

So, I sit here patiently, waiting to see what price
you have to pay to get out of going through all these things twice

As if violating US law is not enough, the Orange Clown must now think he can get away with violating international law, as well. The lack of action on the part of the Democrats will allow this simpleton bully to turn into a true monster. Impeach now, or we will all suffer the consequences! But I’ve said that before.

A crime against peace, in international law, is

“planning, preparation, initiation, or waging of wars of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing”.

Planning and initiating a war based on lies is a crime against peace.

But CBS News is happy to pass along the war lies.

Although even a British general admits it’s a lie.

“There’s been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria,” Maj. Gen Christopher Ghika said in a video briefing from Baghdad to the Pentagon, according to The Guardian.

In post-Democracy America, the main purpose of the news is to keep us confused, not informed. What’s true has little to do with it. In the us-or-them battle of Red vs. Blue, both sides say “their news is fake, our news is real.” The truth is, all the corporate news is owned by the same corporations. And those same corporations own the Red and the Blue clowns, and they would like to own all of us, if we let them.

I’ve got some news for you, from the side. [pause for dramatic tension, then in a stage whisper] “All the corporate news is Fake News.”

This building war fever against Iran is fake news. It’s a lie. A murderous lie, that will become a truth as soon as the bombs begin falling. Just as the Iraq war was based on lies, this one will be, too. Hey, the American people fell for it before.

The speed of the news cycle makes us forget history. John Bolton was a chief architect of the war of aggression in Iraq, based on lies about Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. In recent years, Bolton’s gone on speaking tours promoting his dream of a war with Iran. What a coincidence that Iran would, for no reason whatsoever, threaten shipping in the Gulf. It’s almost like Iran wants to make Bolton’s wet dream come true.

And, holed up in his bunker against an onslaught of investigations, Trump believes a war will get him off the impeachment hook. Sadly, with the weak Democratic party in opposition, he is likely right. The Democrats in disarray under their failing, elderly leadership can’t seem to organize to fight back. A few individuals, like Bernie Sanders, (https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/05/15/bernie-sanders-trump-bolton-iran-iraq-war-sot-ac360-vpx.cnn) have been willing to speak against this aggression, but those opposing voices are carefully backwatered by the War Media. And the Democratic Party leadership is silent.

Because the Democratic Party is a war party, too.

History shows us that the Vietnam War began in a lie, the Gulf of Tonkin incident. History shows us that the Iraq war started in lies. How many times will the American people fall for the same murderous lies? More history gives us the answer.

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Hermann Goering

And make no mistake, the aggression against Iran will be another fossil fuel war. In other words, this war will kill people in order to secure the continued sale of the fossil fuels that are killing us all.

From the side, I can’t help but wonder what price we have to pay to get out of going through this again.

More News than War News

But there is more news than war news. One of the reasons for war is to drive the other stories out of the public mind. Did you even know that 8 people were arrested at the Capitol, protesting for impeachment?

Eight individuals were arrested by the Capitol Police in the Cannon House Office Building on Tuesday morning and charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding, a Capitol Police spokeswoman told The Hill.

“Incommoding” sounds like a pretty serious offense to me. Far worse than interfering in elections, obstructing justice, refusing lawful subpoenas, committing crimes against peace…

Salon has been opposing impeachment, and I oppose that position! Here, though, Matthew Rozsa from Salon has a thoughtful conversation with Allen Lichtman, well-known electoral pundit who thinks impeachment is the right thing to do. Now.

I just get such a tingle to have a “political prophet” viewing things from my side. I’d be happy with “prognosticator.”

A lot of folks, including the God of the Cult of Doomsday Scientists, Jim Hansen, are arguing for nuclear power as the next clean energy. I’m not an absolutist on the issue. But sometimes accidents happen. And when those accidents poison our kids and environment, you wonder how clean that energy is, just because it doesn’t emit CO2.

Alabama bans abortions. This will, of course, go to the loaded High Court. At the same time, we find out that Alabama is last in a list of best states. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Notice also that Washington is the top state, and that Washington Governor Jay Inslee is running for President. Just sayin’.

The impeachable crimes that Michael Cohen’s testimony revealed are beginning to get some attention. The Democrats coulda-woulda-shoulda started their impeachment inquiry as soon as Cohen testified. But it’s not too late!

Schiff, in a statement released Tuesday, said his committee would be “negligent not to pursue” Cohen’s claims.
“The materials we are requesting in these letters go to the heart of that investigation and to Congress’s ability to conduct meaningful oversight,” Schiff said.
An attorney representing the president’s legal team, Patrick Strawbridge, said in a statement of his own that his clients intend to resist complying with the committee’s request, citing “one of the oldest and most sacred privileges in the law … attorney-client privilege.”

Of course, these “requests” will be stonewalled, emboldened by the example of the Trump Bunker. And without the weight of an impeachment inquiry, this “request” is again just Schiff blowing off another confetti cannon. (I swear I almost typed cofefe or whatever it was Trump said that ya’ll made so much fun of.) Impeach, you fools, then investigate! This is getting old.

Investigate-gate is picking up steam. Beaten down in the ring, William Barr has found new life as attack dog for his Clown-In-Chief.

That’s all for now. Peace out, from the side.
